WHAT MAKES A GOOD CUP OF COFFEE?

MAR asked:

Now we suffer a crater or dual here as well as there. After reception an espresso machine as well as a fine coffee maker as marriage gifts, we find myself wondering if I’ve been celebration so-so coffee for a long time.

In your opinion, what creates a good crater of coffee great?
Do we get special beans?
Do we grub them yourself?
Do we demand on a sure process of preparation?

I’m meddlesome in everyone’s views on this topic, since I’d similar to to sense some-more about how to make an even improved cup-o-java.

Thanks!

Fresh beans, preferably freshly roasted too. My espresso machine grinds them fresh for each cup. I like beans that are strong and clean: French Roast, either alone or mixed with Sumatra or Guatemala. Starbuck’s also has Komodo Dragon beans, which are really good. I use the same beans, but ground differently for my Cuisinart coffeemaker. … I also have a Toddy Maker, which I’ve used for 30years:) You make 1 lb. of coffee concentrate at a time (and 90% of the ACID and caffeine is removed naturally through the fabric filter); then keep the concentrate in the refrigerator. Add a jigger-ful to a cup of hot water for clean, fresh coffee at all times. … It’s essential that you have good, clean coffeemakers; and that you don’t leave the pot sitting on the hot element (so the coffee gets too bitter)

I love coffee and I’ve tried all kinds. My friend used to own a coffee truck in NYC. She introduced me to Kona coffee from Hawaii and now I’m hooked. The flavor is rich and robust and the aroma is incredible. I discovered many of the local gourmet shops sold Kona blends, which were really only 10 percent Hawaiian coffee. Now I order online direct from because I get pure Kona coffee. Growing, harvesting and roasting coffee beans is like an art form in Hawaii. The Kona Luna website explains the difference and what makes Kona coffee so incredible.

Freshness is a big factor, There is a place near me that roasts it’s beans fresh everyday in the store, they also grind them fresh as they use them, If you can get fresh roasted beans, freeze them. Grind them as you use them.
This seem like a no brainer, but clean the pot and coffee maker frequently, oils from coffee stick very easily and contribute to bitterness. you’d be surprised how many people I’ve seen who never cleaned their coffee pots.
The type of beans does make a difference, Kona is my favorite, but there are lots of great coffee growing regions that grow wonderful coffees.
For a large pot of coffee I use a Braun cone style automatic drip with natural paper filters, for individual cups I have a french press, both are good, but the french press makes stronger and more robust coffee, almost like an espresso.
