The instructions on my machine have been really confusing. On a potion carafe, it has markings for 2 cups as well as 4 cups. But, creation 2 cups is some-more than a shot, that is ostensible to be 1-1.5 oz, right? The 2 crater symbol is similar to 5 oz of liquid. Should we cut behind on a H2O as well as coffee only to make 1 shot, even yet there isn’t any markings? we have a Mr. Coffee machine; we know, REALLY cheap, though it was a gift. Thanks in advance!

So are you trying to make a single cappuchino, perhaps?
I wouldn’t try making a single cup of expresso with an inexpensive American machine, but it might work OK.
Maybe this will help -
A “shot” of expresso is about 1.7 fl oz – 50 ml.
For a cappucino, you then add an equal amount of foam and milk.
The result is 150 ml product which equal 5 U.S. fl oz.
for American tastes, I would suggest you invite a friend, make “two cup” of expresso (5 oz of water), add the equal amounts of foam and milk, and then split it.
You then each get a full measuring cup (actually about 7.5 oz) of cappucino each.
